Solar Sands
We’re proud to share the arrival of Solar Sands, our collaborative Fog Pale Ale with Suffolk’s finest brewers, Burnt Mill Brewery.
Solar Sands is a tribute to our Suffolk Solar Sandlings Walk. The route follows locations along a proposed solar alignment, from King Raedwald’s Royal Palace and cult centre at Rendlesham to the liminal Burrow Hill, passing through the ancient green lane of Friday Street, with the central focus of the walk being the mighty oaks of the captivating Staverton Forest.
Burnt Mill are our go-to brewery and they’ve gone the extra mile to celebrate this stunning ancient Suffolk landscape with us. For an added solsticial twist, Solar Sands is hopped with Citra, Mosaic and Eclipse for some bright tropical fruit flavours, mixed in with candied mandarin and citrus notes. Perfect for exploring the Suffolk Sandlings in the sunshine.
If you fancy exploring the Solar Sandlings, get your boots on and head here for starters, and for full route details and downloadable maps visit the excellent British Pilgrimage Trust website.
And if you really want to dive deeper into the story of this evocative ritual landscape, we will soon be releasing the second part of our research publication ‘Staverton – Skyscapes and Landscapes’ which will be available to download for free soon.
Our new Solar Sands t-shirt is also available to buy online in our Shop now.
As a not-for-profit charity, all proceeds from the purchase of our t-shirts goes back into funding our projects, ensuring all our published research is free to access. Thank you for supporting us in our quest to advance the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of historic British Ritual Landscapes.
